Franco-Venezuelan flautist, Javier Rodriguez continues his musical career in Europe.
After training in the musical program "El Sistema", Javier won the Second Prize of the Yamaha Flute Competition 2010 then the First Prize of the First International Flute Festival Competition in Caracas in 2011. In 2012, he was named "Emerging Artist" by Miyazawa Flutes after winning the First Prize of the Santiago International Flute Competition.
Javier moved to France in 2012 when he entered the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Lyon, he studied with Philippe Bernold, Julien Beaudiment, Claude Lefèbvre, José-Daniel Castellón and Gilles Cottin. Afterwards, he obtained a Master’s Degree in flute and piccolo at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris in the class of Philippe Bernold, Florence Souchard Delepine and Pierre Dumail.
As a soloist, Javier has performed the concerts of CPE Bach, W.A Mozart, Carl Reinecke, Antonio Vivaldi, Franz Doppler, Domenico Cimarosa, Jacques Ibert, André Jolivet and Aram Khachaturian with the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra, Teresa Carreño Youth Orchestra, Dr. Carlos Mohle Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestras of San Sebastián, Ciudad Guayana, Guárico and Monagas in Venezuela. In Chile he performed with the Marga Marga Chamber Orchestra, in Colombia with the Latin-American Winds Orchestra and in France he played the J.S Bach's 4th Branderburg Concerto under the direction of Zahia Ziouani.
His career allowed him to make the premieres of works such as « Brasileirismos no. 2 » by Hudson Nogueira in Manizales, Cristina Landuzzi’s « Il Canto di Orfeo » in Lyon and Elise Bertrand’s « Sonatine pour piccolo » in Paris. As a chamber musician, he participated in the recording of « N34 » by Elisabeth Angot for the broadcast « Création mondiale » for Radio France and has taken part in projects with the Centre de musique de chambre de Paris, the Soloists of the Divertimento Orchestra, the Trio VIF, the Intemporalis Ensemble, the Arènes Lyriques de Montmartre, the Soloists of the Orchestre Symphonique et Lyrique de Paris, the Quintette Musiques pour faire plaisir, to name a few.
As an orchestral musician, Javier leads an orchestral activity as freelancer principally in France.. He usually works with the Orchestre national Avignon-Provence, the Orchestre national de Bretagne, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Marseille, the Orchestre national de Lille, the Opéra national de Lyon, the Orchestre de Douai-Hauts de France, the Orchestre de Chambre de la Gironde, the Orchestre Symphonique Saint-Etienne Loire, the Orchestre Symphonique Divertimento, the Orchestre des Lauréats du Conservatoire, the Orchestre Colonne, the Orchestre Hexagone, the Orchestre de l’Alliance, the Orchestre Hélios, the International Parisian Symphony Orchestra, the Soave sia il Vento Ensamble, the Académie Symphonique de Versailles, la Orchestre du Théâtre de Rungis, the Renouveau Lyrique, or the Académie Symphonique de Paris. He collaborated on the recording of works by Boris Tischenko for Naxos Records; he participated in the production "Beethoven Celtique" for Deutsche Grammophon and, as a principal piccolo player, for the album “Bacchanale” for Harmonia Mundi.
His artistic commitments have allowed him to perform in prestigious scenes such as the Palais Garnier of the Opéra de Paris, the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, the Salle Cortot, the Salle Gaveau, the Philharmonie de Paris, the Opéra d’Avignon, the Opéra de Marseille, the Théâtre Graslin de Nantes, the Grand Théâtre d'Angers, the Opéra de Rennes, the Archipel de Perpignan, the Cité de la Musique de Paris, Radio France, the Théâtre Antique d’Orange, the Auditorium de Lyon, the Château de Versailles, the Théâtre Impérial de Compiègne, the Grand Théâtre Massenet de Saint -Etienne, among others.
Javier has been Principal flute of the Teresa Carreño Youth Orchestra in Venezuela. He had the opportunity to work early with renowned conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Rafael Frübeck de Burgos, Plácido Domingo, Ligia Amadio and Sung Kwak and the venezuelans Gustavo Dudamel, Christian Vásquez, Pablo Castellanos, Diego Matheuz, Rafael Payare..
With the Teresa Carreño Orchestra he participated in the recording of the album "Salut d'amour" with Eduardo Marturet and performed in the Simón Bolívar Hall and at the Teresa Carreño Cultural Complex in Caracas. In Europe he played in important halls such as the Berlin Philharmonie, the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, the Beethovenhall in Bonn, the Southbank Center in London and the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid. In Venezuela, he also played with the Dr. Carlos Mohle Symphony Orchestra, the Venezuela Symphony Orchestra and with the National Flutes Orchestra he participated at the 4th French Flute Convention in 2012.
Attached to latin-american music, Javier has been a member of the Ensemble «Becuadro» in Venezuela and he performed in concert with José Antonio Naranjo of «El Cuarteto», the Quatuor «l'Esquisse», with the violinist Alexis Cárdenas, the cuatrist Leo Rondon and Nelson Ramirez. From 2023 he started a regular projets in Paris performing at the Bal Blomet and at the Parranda Vénézuélienne.
Born in Venezuela in 1992, Javier Rodriguez began his flute studies with Efraín Barragán at the "José Gabriel Núñez Romberg" music school in his hometown, Maturín. After training with José Antonio Naranjo, he entered the “Simón Bolivar” Conservatory and the Latin-american Flute Academy in Caracas at the age of 13 where he studied with Andrés Eloy Rodríguez, Víctor Rojas and David Ascanio. He also attended flute courses with Davide Formisano, Sabrina Maaroufi, Philippe Boucly, Gary Schoeker, Alexa Still, Peter-Lukas Graf, Rachel Brown, Michel Bellavance, Gudrun Hinze, Shigenori Kudo, Mihi Khim, Kazunori Seo, Hansgeorg Schmeiser, Nathalie Rozat, Michael Hasel, Sandrine Tilly and with numerous Venezuelan flute teachers such as María Gabriela Rodríguez, Nicolás Real, J. Montilla...
His international career began in 2006 presenting a franco-venezuelan music concert during the 4th. World Congress "Talento para la niñez ” in Cuenca, Ecuador. The same year, he was named “Young Talent" by the Monagas State Government.
